question about nintendo thing
@Felthry basically it turns out that they have a growing library of VC games. You get ALL of them when you get the pass, and every time they get new ones, you get those added too to your account... I don't... think you get to keep them though.
re: question about nintendo thing
@Nine bleh
re: question about nintendo thing
@Felthry yeah it's kinda a shame :< I don't think you get to keep games you downloaded on PS+ though if your subscription expires either though... I mean if you renew your subscript you get access to them again though, even on the nintendo platform at least...
re: question about nintendo thing
@Nine we've literally never used a subscription online service before, ever
re: question about nintendo thing
@Felthry ahj fair enough. if it helps nay, the switch's online subscription system is.... kinda ridiculously cheap??
like it's something ridiculous like £10 for a YEAR'S subscription. It's that much for just three months on Playstation 4.
re: question about nintendo thing
@Nine $20 a year here. I dunno if we use online stuff enough to justify even that though
re: question about nintendo thing
@Felthry oih i stand corrected it's like... £20 almost ._.; aaand £30 for a year's family subscription. Though that covers up to 8 separate nintendo accounts at least
re: question about nintendo thing
@Nine oh then it's cheaper here. still, sounds like £20 is cheaper than the playstation one
re: question about nintendo thing
@Felthry ah! And if you don't have an internet connection it looks like the NES games you get can still be played for up to 7 days...
re: question about nintendo thing
@Felthry ah yeah here we go, b asically when you're not a member you ca
n't play the nes games, but you get access to them again if you resub, automatically.
re: question about nintendo thing
@Nine we'll just stick to retroarch then
re: question about nintendo thing
@Felthry yeah it's probably a better idea tbqh. The library of nes games is fairly limited even now. There IS some neat features like online multiplayer, getting to use a hand cursor to help out friends who are playing, all that sorta thing, but yeah... I mean, it does seem like emulation is just... a far better idea.
re: question about nintendo thing
@Felthry (incidentally if you folks need some nes roms I might have a few I could uh maybe just... sorta... drop somewhere cwc )
re: question about nintendo thing
@Nine (we kind of maybe already have a full set)
not a question anymore
@Nine the emuparadise announcement happened while we were building our desktop computer and we got an extra big hard drive (and then someone else donated an 8TB one to our efforts!) in order to be able to archive video games
we have full sets now of NES, SNES, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBC, GBA, Wii, PS1, and PS2
still need to get n64 I think
re: not a question anymore
@Nine we need to go through it and work on recompressing it though, a lot of the wii ones especially are 4.7 gigabyte files for no reason other than that they're full disc images without the empty space stripped, and our 8tb drive currently has like a few gigabytes of space left
re: not a question anymore
@Felthry oh yeek that's... oh wow yikes o_o; eep. yeah that definitely needs some trimming and stuff
re: not a question anymore
@Nine what's really weird is like, half of the torrents from had these 4.7gb .zips but also the other half of the _same_ set was full of properly-trimmed .7zs
and it's random which ones are which, like torrents 4 and 6 might be 7zs and part 5 full of zips
re: not a question anymore
@Felthry that's heckin' weird o-o; Wonder if some of the images were just ripped from other sites or something rather than ripped themselves and where they got them from weren't trimmed right?
re: not a question anymore
@Nine maybe? but it's consistent within each torrent, which are all alphabetical, so... *shrug*
re: not a question anymore
@Felthry okay that's just plain weird then.
not a question anymore
@Felthry holy crap O_O NICE! Also you're goddamn heroes for archiving all that data ;; <3<3<3
