First CD: "25 Mahjongg games!"

Oh.
Time to run 25 installers then. :3

The first three don't boot because of some Directdraw error, and the fourth one was pretty hecking easy and contained a relatively broken midi of Rondo Alla Turca.

11 games in is the second working one (it's no surprise that many of the 25 mahjongg games are effectively clones, so if one doesn't work... :P)

Mahjongg Calculator doesn't have overlapping layers of tiles, but instead all the tiles (in a rhombus shape) feature addition/subtraction problems on them instead and you have to match the solutions of those. It gets tiring very quickly

The music is very weirdly funky though.

@BatElite Are they all solitaire mahjongg or do they have the actual game too

re: Trying a bunch of Mahjongg CDs my parents have and never used to my knowledge

@Felthry All of the ones I got to work are solitaire (or some pair-matching thing they've thrown in anyway) and I'm pretty sure the others are too.

The non-solitaire variant doesn't seem to get marketed much here. I can see 2 versions on the bunch of discs I have here (+ maybe others) but one seems to have died and the other I'm somewhat scared to try. Last time I messed with that disc I got a virus warning. ^^;

@BatElite yeah the actual game seems to be immensely popular in japan (and probably also china and taiwan and korea and other places in that cultural sphere) but virtually unheard-of in the west
