In the #NY14 democratic primary, Democratic Socialist and Latina Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez beat out incumbent establishment Democrat Joe Crowley, while running an outsider campaign that included calls to abolish ICE months before the family separation crisis.

Not only did she win, she won in a landslide (Up ~15% near the end) against a 10-term incumbent with deep pockets. Now she's running for House in a deeply blue district.
