This works.
@anthracite crap, I'm gonna have to figure out how to cut patterns and sew, right?
@Leucrotta @anthracite Actually my source for vinyl (heavy duty bowling/costume type vinyl) that I am using to make my suit is great because the edges are so beautiful after cutting them that I don't think you'd *have* to sew it. You could glue it to a mask form with strong glue. (Though I do sew it, because I have a beast of a sewing machine and love to sew.)
If you want to toss around some ideas I'd be game, look at https://www.fabricempire.com/ which is my source for cosplay and fursuit materials lately. I might have a coupon for them if you want to order a sample book.
@eredien @anthracite hey thanks!
@eredien @anthracite but, also I should know how to use a sewing machine or how to handstitch stuff, I feel like it's a major failing on my part.
@Leucrotta @anthracite it's definitely a skill I picked up at the expense of some other skills I would also have liked to have (for instance I didn't teach myself archery or how to hunt for food). I find these tradeoffs happen more as you get older.
FWIW I'm not a good hand-sewer but I love to sew on my machine. The two are not always mutually exclusive but I figure if the mellow and affable PBS "Sewing with Nancy" Nancy can get away with hosting like 20 years of a sewing show and then admit that she is no good at hand sewing, there is hope for me.
