I realize these are probably not the sort of you’d think would come out of a trip to the art museum and facing body image issues, but it’s what was on my mind.

I was really struck by this Calder painting where the portrayal of forms physically joined together or overlapping suggests that is something he found interesting in his mobiles/stabiles. And by the small models which let him loosely figure out composition and balance; I figure the payoff of a largely unpredictable artwork balanced out the need to plan meticulously.

A selection of photos from the Calder exhibit. I was caught by how not only does the composition potentially change from moment to moment but the shadow cast by the mobiles offers a 2d take on them changing.

this is not especially seasonal, but I colored up another .

Years ago, and I swear I'm not making this up, it was THE NINETIES.

Colored another today while listening to a whole batch of Danheim and Skald and stuff.

Colored up a today. Clip Studio and comic book cut and grad coloring mostly.

from yesterday and today, werewolf pic inspired by driving while my friend read their Book of the Wyrm, finished while listening to the Raiders of the Lost Ark soundtrack.

today, you can tell when I stopped listening to Danny Elfman soundtrack and when I started listening to The Tannahill Weavers.

Today’s were all about trying to block big shapes onto the page. The only one I especially tightened up was a redo of an older drawing!
