A weird bug in Super Off-Road for NES:

For one frame, when you touch the finish line on the final lap, sprite memory is overwritten with garbage. No idea why!

Spent all evening looking into why the sprite corruption happens, and... turns out it's possibly caused by an emulator bug! ^^; On actual hardware, sprites are disabled for that frame, so no sprites are shown at all.

@Raspberryfloof I wonder if it wasn't done to avoid having the hundredths digits just cycle between 0 3 and 6.

@bp It's weird that, although it cycles 1-3-4-6-7-9 for a while, it changes to 1-2-4-6-7-9 later... And either way, the ten seconds digit and one minutes digit are very much not synced properly with the rest of the timer. >.>;;;

@bp errr... tenth-seconds and one seconds. ^^;;; whoops...

@Raspberryfloof Not quite related to the topic, but that's an odd name for an NES title. They'll have to call the SNES one Super Super Off-Road now to keep the usual pattern. :P

@BatElite Hehe ^^ It's actually a port of an arcade game! Hence the "Super" title. (Its actual full title is "Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Super Off-Road"!)

And there is an upgraded port of both the original arcade version and arcade upgrade pack rolled into one game that was released on SNES, called... "Super Off-Road". No "Super Super" here, unfortunately... ^.^
