no please don't with the federation bots fediverse there's no need for those really it's creepy I don't like it why would you even do that why why why what's even the point or the need or the function

follow people at random. there was a couple I blocked a little while back because the instance admin who created it wanted to run a "social experiment" to see how much data he could scrape from the fediverse with a bot doing it. He ran two bots, one that was somewhat explicit about it, the other that didn't say it was a bot, but upon examination definitely was.
@Rosemary i just got followed by a federation bot and I just... I dunno, something about them always makes me really uneasy. I block them on reflex now just in case because I don't like the idea of being followed by an account that's just a program running to follow people for some unknown and unexplained reasoning, and there's no telling who's actually looking at that account and the tweets it scrapes and for what purpose... Everything about it makes me uneasy and nervous.
