if your snare doesn't look like this then what are you even doing

@tom jack ü snare except there's a bunch of reverb on it and it's clipping to hell and back

@Thaminga funny thing is that this snare isn't even clipping (beyond the regular distortion I put on it anyway)

@tom i'd imagine compression would take care of it, yeah

still though

@Thaminga yeah it's compressed multiple times down the signal chain lol

@Thaminga also fuck I'll listen to this in a sec, I'm currently in line at a store

@tom honestly I made this as a joke but a little EQing would turn this into a legitimately good snare sound lmao

@Thaminga I mean the transients seem to be... non existent in the attack phase so it'd need some heavy compression to get some punch out of it as well lol

@tom yeah, the reverb and the brickwall-ass multiband compression I use as my basic mastering setup made it definitely less punchy than the regular snare, though I'd imagine it's worse still on phone speakers vs. headphones/regular speakers

@Thaminga I listened to it on my IEMs which are usually pretty good but yeah

@tom update: it also sounds like there's no transients early on because playing that back on mobile cuts off the first couple of milliseconds, oops

@Thaminga that could honestly be a cool melodic sound if sampled correctly
