Would want a union that is:
* Purely democratic, everyone has an equal vote regardless of how new or old they are.
* A majority of 75% needed to pass new stuff, because anything that is 50%/50% is divided and half the members are going to hate it and the vote might just be barely off. A 75% to pass would cause less division.
* Everyone under the same contract regardless of how new or old they are, no 20 different contracts spanning 20 years.
Corrupt Unions in the US (-)
I know there are people who are like "Yay unions!" and others like "I got a Union Job!", however my experience with unions has been pretty shitty. Namely the UFCW which basically just gives no shit about their members and also takes part in wage suppression with no benefits at all. They were also pretty racist too. Whenever there was a threat to strike, it was always to cover boomer asses, and it was like "How does this affect me?" and they would be like "It does not, but we need to protect our senior members". It was pretty much like "Picket with us and get a dollar an hour, or get fired because we control your contract. Get a second job if it is not enough for you. We care about our members.". Also did not help that the union leaders were besties with the company owner and came here in a limo.
That said, with Tech unions coming up more and more I rather feel like it is going to be trendy to do... in which case we will end up with Unions that only care about our access to ping pong tables and nothing else. All someone has to do is bribe someone to look the other way or to influence them.
