Since black Twitter is a thing, is there a black Mastodon yet?

@Malin Kinda, but not a specific server as far as I know, but there was a huge influx from black twitter for a while, a lot of youth, not a lot of them stuck around though.

But you can definitefly find other black folx on here.

I'll help with boost <3

@maloki @Malin The comment I most often get from black twitter friends about Mastodon is, “I have to know where the black folk are before I go somewhere. Show me where we are and I’ll come check it out.”

(I do know there’s no clear and easy path from where we are to there! It’s just a comment I feel needs amplifying.)

@brooke yeah, def, I hear it too. And I've suggested to some communities that they try hosting a mastodon server, which ofc is it's own threshold. But me as a white girl can't really host the community for them, you know?

But when there was a huge wave, a lot of them just came to mastodon.social. Dunno if it helps.

@Malin

@maloki @Malin Tx. Just one follow-up question: I haven’t lately followed the occasional discussion about !groups of the gnu-social kind. As an additional possibility for community-clumping, is/was there any potential there? Or are there insuperable tech/social obstacles for groups in Mastodon?

@brooke groups are coming, it's on the current roadmap:
- "a group feature so you can toot a message to all members of a group"

@maloki @Malin Yay, for many reasons! Thanks again.
