Thinkin about pain & EDS stuff, goals
- Gotta keep strengthening my wrists
- Find good exercises to safely strengthen muscles around my shoulder joint
- Establish some sort of daily schedule to remember & keep to these
- Wear wrist braces when I sleep more b/c subluxing in my sleep
- Learn to sleep on my back if at all possible, b/c subluxing shoulders in my sleep on my side
- Keep a copy of https://www.ehlers-danlos.com/pdf/2018-annual-conference/P-Chopra-2018Baltimore-Management-of-Chronic-Pain-in-EDS-S.pdf on my tablet to show doctors, because it's so useful
re: Medical, Disability, -
Also the "no-one joins the dots" thing is so true
My joints are one problem. They are not the only problem, or even the biggest problem my EDS causes.
But no-one gets told about the other symptoms, because they're not the diagnostic criteria. So unless you're seeing a specialist, of which there are none, they will never be considered.
Medical, Disability, -
"Because EDS covers every area of the body, and every medical discipline, what is really needed are specialist centres or clinics where care can be co-ordinated. There is only 1 such unit in the whole of the UK and it’s in London at UCLH, so unless you live there you’re scuppered. They do have a 2 week inpatient unit, but afterwards you’re sent back to where you live with no follow-through. Many people with EDS therefore find they are just left to get on with it, or see Consultant after Consultant with no specialist knowledge of EDS. No-one joins the dots or looks at the disease as a whole which can be highly frustrating!"
This so much
This is why I'm rapidly turning into one of those "eh why bother seeing a doctor, it's not worth it" types
Not because I think I'm immortal or I'll get eaten by an evil vaccine
Just being so, so tired of 101 advice for other, more common conditions, from a string of clinicians who've never even heard of it -.-

This is such a good match between two very bouncy wrestlers
Wrestling Blather
This year feels like it has mostly been spent watching lots of wrestling
It good? Like, I never got into it when I was younger, got into Chikara a few years back, which was fun indie stuff (now gone, owner was awful). Been watching AEW since a partner introduced me to it.
AEW Dark (freebie Youtube weekly show) is really good! Like, goofy indie-vibe stuff with lots of high-flyers is my thing way more than growly musclemen, and Dark is way more that-kinda-thing than their main TV show (Dynamite).
Happily surprised that the one I look forward to every week is free on Youtube.
Hypnospace Outlaw is so fantastically good
I was worried it would just be a nostalgia trip, but instead it uses the period & the context as incredible framing to enable some incredible storytelling techniques
in part because what it simulates is corporate-space artificiality, the arbitrary mechanical rules and the forced detachment, so those aspects of gameplay enhance the immersion rather than damaging it
also playing with the detached-observer perspective, the mindset it pushes you into and all its contradictions
This is a graffiti-free zone.
