I had to move all my videos to a new YouTube channel.
New channel is here: https://youtube.com/channel/UCEpCI9ayENcFBqhBE0eYaBw
@logoninternet I forgot about that lmao
In the meantime, I'm doing my best to keep my head up. Trying to hit the balance between keeping myself busy enough and not burning myself out or exacerbating my disabilities & chronic health problems in some way. Been doing an okay job at that, I think.
There's some stuff I'll try to remember to repost from Twitter tomorrow.
Those reposts are mainly about:
- Parts Horse
- Bork
- an experiment involving an xbox controller
- receiving SSTV broadcasts from the ISS back in December
Frankly the last year has been pretty rough. I won't go into the details here. There's just been... so much. Lots of small things going wrong. Some larger things.
It'll eventually resolve and I'll be okay, but it's fucking rough.
Been quite a while since I was on here.
idk
a lot's happened.
Got my ham radio license. If you're in eastern MA (especially near Brockton), keep an ear out for KC1QGV (that's me)! I'm almost exclusively on 2m atm. Sometimes 70cm if mobile. I usually use the Waltham ARA or MMRA repeaters.
If you're mostly interested in music & software, here's the 2020-Sep 2021 update: https://smallest.dog/blog/music-and-open-source-update-2020-2021/
Maybe should do another update or something idk.
the HVAC system installation was just finished today and it's such a relief to not have like 2/3rds of the house be 80°F+ all the time in the summer?
in the past 16 months i wasn't on here I *checks notes* bought a house with 3 other nerds, replaced all the appliances in it, and got a central HVAC system installed?
I mean most of that was the last 6 months, the rest was mostly anxiety.
@Violet honestly even a way to pull up a list of in-progress quests -- something they *have* to keep track of -- would make many games significantly easier to return to.
I'm SUPER excited to announce Boreutils:
An implementation of the utilities specified in POSIX.1-2017, and a few extras, with tests.
https://github.com/duckinator/boreutils
At the moment it has:
- 20 utilities, with tests (of a planned ~100+)
- `ish`, a (non-POSIX) shell
@Lyude hey, do you know of something that will let me get a list of all packages + their versions for certain Fedora releases _even from a system not running Fedora_? It's okay if other info is included, as long as it's a known/documented format.
For Debian + Ubuntu, I'm using https://wiki.debian.org/UltimateDebianDatabase , but need an equivalent for Fedora.
The context here is that I tried to tell the thermostat to not turn anything on bc I have a door open and it just does not have this ability.
I took an introductory electronics class once and we were told that if we remembered anything from that class, it should be "always have a cut-off switch."
The thermostat here has no off switch, but was designed to be easily removable.
Nothing of what I said above was a joke.
