Oh, before I forget:
Anybody out there REALLY fluent in Chinese (mostly written) and need a job?
My bosses are hiring. It's basically the same geographical work I do (i.e. really cushy if you're good at lateral thinking), but in Chinese. That and basic web literacy are the main requirements, though knowing a bit about global culture sure doesn't hurt.
Let me know if this interests anybody!
@zebratron2084 My girl friend is Chinese. She's moving to the US in March and will be looking for work. What does the job entail?
@Wayves Geographical research for a GPS company. Basically, looking at real search-engine queries and evaluating machine-generated responses to them. A strong knowledge of international geography and culture doesn't hurt, but the only hard requirements are good critical thinking skills and ability to work from a somewhat convoluted and outdated (I would use the word "folkloric" :) ) style guide...
Have her send me mail at nickolas.brienza@here.com and I'll forward it to people who know details!
@zebratron2084 Ok, thanks!
@zebratron2084 Would that be working from home?
@johnleonard Yes! It's a telecommuting job. I work 15-20 hours a week, but they might have longer hours for a Chinese specialist. (Note that I have nothing to do with the hiring, I'm just passing the listing along. :) )
@zebratron2084 OK - my wife is Chinese, she might be interested. Can you send me more details? Thanks
@johnleonard Sure, could you have her drop me a line at nickolas.brienza@here.com?
@zebratron2084 OK - she's actually in China til the end of the month. Can you tell me a bit more about the job - or send a URL?
I found the original posting! Here it is verbatim:
"We have a USA opening for a Chinese-language annotator position. If you know someone who can legally work in the USA, is able to work 15-20 hours, and is proficient in the written Chinese language, please feel free to forward the attached listing to them. If they are interested, have them contact ext-albert.lin@here.com with their resume."
@zebratron2084 Thanks for that. Unfortunately we are not US based, so I guess no go. Cheers anyway.
@zebratron2084 Passed this on to a wah I know, who is gonna pass it to some they know who are better qualified.
Got an actual job listing link? :-)
