I have to get some cavities filled tomorrow. The dentist won't let me take both Valium and the laughing gas. I'm worried the Valium won't be enough.
I already take Prozac to get me through the day (woo social anxiety) but it's not particularly effective for the dentist! So I am worried!

@starbright That is a responsible thing for the dentist to do since those interactions can be dangerous. Take some deep breaths, bring a stress ball, and you'll get through it with no sweat.

@PaulFerence I could've sworn I had taken them together before, but I might be misremembering.
I get panic attacks about needles so the numbing is the part that's gonna be the worst. Got any really good distraction tips?

@starbright This may not work as well if they're doing a topical application, but when I get a blood draw, I look away as much as possible from the needle and talk a mile a minute.

@PaulFerence Yeah a constant stream of talking about how bad I feel is what kept me from completely fainting last time I had bloodwork done. Since the original plan of closing eyes and listening to music didn't.... Not sure how well that's gonna work when they're working on my mouth though!

@starbright Can you play a phone game during it? Or do you have a portable game system with some calming/distracting games?

@PaulFerence I have plenty of games I could play on my phone, I can see if they'll let me.
