Didn't they tease a woman doctor before? I have a memory of they doing that but then having a male one and that's why I stopped watching... I might be remembering wrong though.
@HufflepuffBR haven't seen that. If (big if) I remember correctly this would have been sometime in the first couple of seasons of the current series.

@eris I believe there was some idea of casting Joanna Lumley as The Doctor a long time ago, briefly floated and then shot down. Lumley did play the The Doctor very briefly in the mid-'90s comedy outing "The Curse of Fatal Death".
