hey long haired folx: how do you keep your bangs out of your eyes?

how the fuck do y'all put your bangs in a ponytail that's the opposite side of your head

okay okay let me be clear

my bangs are long enough to cover my eyes and go down to my nose. i want them to not do those things. that's what im working with

very important update: hair clips work super well and also this is the most femme i have EVER looked and i kind of really love it??? ;;

(selfie, ec)

@InspectorCaracal i tried the mullet look for about five minutes in a barbershop once. never again

@typhlosion@awoo.space more helpfully, though, hair clips

I usually use snap clips, they're uh... let me get a pic

@typhlosion@awoo.space these

They're REALLY easy to use, but you can't grab a huge chunk of hair with them - shouldn't be a problem for bangs

@typhlosion@awoo.space I also use elastic fabric headbands for when I'm doing something more physically intensive like washing a floor, or when I need to go out on an errand and don't have spoons for hair styling

@typhlosion I grow my hair long enough to tuck behind my ears, but that kinda goes against the concept of bangs, perhaps

@typhlosion bandanna, hair ties, eventually it gets long enough that it just stays there

@typhlosion (also after you wear a bandanna for a while your hair will start taking that shape naturally, for better or for worse)

@typhlosion@awoo.space that's the "grow them out" solution! 8D

Also if you're getting wildly different answers, part of that is that "long hair" when socialized masc versus fem mean completely different things

@typhlosion@awoo.space headbands, def headbands

You can buy like a multi pack of headbands at a supermarket for like, five bucks or something

@InspectorCaracal headbands are a strong suggestion, especially if i can put buttons on them

im gonna try hair clips and bobby pins first though. i need something i can wear in an office setting (NB: im masc presenting but don't really care about keeping it that way)

@typhlosion@awoo.space nah but clipping/pinning your hair to the side is probably the easiest

@InspectorCaracal @typhlosion just be aware that if you do this, you'll no longer be able to walk through walls

@typhlosion oh my gosh yes paint your nails. that's such an easy way to get more of that ~rush~ you're seeking

@typhlosion hair clips are so good I wish I could send you my collection!!!

@shoofle theyre really nice... thinking about a decorated one... or even just a purple one tbh

@typhlosion I wore so many barrettes in college when I was being a genderfucky boy... They were so fun and cute! These days if my hair is long enough to need them, it's usually too thick to wear them :( maybe I should bundle together some of mine and mail them to you??

@shoofle omg... that'd be so kind of you ;_; i dont know if i could accept a gift like that, aa

@typhlosion poke me tomorrow and I'll go through my barrette drawer and see if there's some I could part with!!

@InspectorCaracal i love them... i actually had these yesterday, and tbh i had no idea how they worked until you posted a picture and one of them had the thing flipped and i was like "ohhhhh"

@typhlosion@awoo.space i'm 100000% sure this is why all snap clip product images include an image of one of them open xD

@typhlosion Let it go long enough that it can be brushed back or to the side.

@typhlosion grow it out longer and tie it back.

There's an awful middle ground of length that I don't really know what to do with.
