As a game from 9 years ago, it's notable for successfully mixing 2D navigation with 3D graphics and detailed environments. It feels like a shooter and you do have to use tactics like bouncing grenades, hiding behind cover to reload, etc--the move set feels by-the-numbers but it's executed well. The story, in terms of spoken dialog, is not great, but you can tell there's some logic in how the facility fits together and the vibe is consistent.

I do love it when I can put enough of myself into a game that I *do* for a moment, feel some nervousness about how things are gonna turn out

I always get the jitters in roguelike games when I have a good kit put together, make it to an advanced area, and know I risk losing it all if my attention lapses.

Sometimes I just gotta suspend the game for a while to hold onto that feeling

@aflightybroad yeah, no playstation or switch version unfortunately. It's always these experimental offshoot games that I worry about becoming inaccessible to future gamers

Also APPARENTLY the protagonist is in a subtext gay relationship with the prince because the dialog doesn't make sense otherwise, a fact that I managed to overlook the first time I dabbled in the game
