I have found solutions for the two things that were sticking out as problems to me for this game. Now it's just... really good. I'm towards the endgame on the power curve and it's very satisfying to smash things that gave me trouble several hours ago--plus more characters that I like have started showing up.

You can't spell GRADIUS without RAD.

Majora's Mask is a real stunning game that's dulled a bit by age. I wish there was a lot less going into and out of menus, waiting on song cutscenes to finish, etc

I'm falling off with this game. :( It just isn't giving me enough forward momentum.

Is this game supposed to slow do so much after the start? I don't know how I'm supposed to fight some of these enemies.

what do you call the feeling when you're paranoid that a developer you admire from a distance might secretly/unknowingly be appealing to the anime avatar crowd?

That's kinda where I'm at; tough games to recommend but also impossible to ignore. I get pulled in like a tractor beam.

I should mention that I have no idea what the actual winning or game over conditions are in this game. Last time I played I was tasked with removing a particular faction from gas giants. I don't even know how to go to war. At some point the game decided that I ran out of time to do this and they exploded the universe.

It's pretty opaque. I understand that they can't really afford polish, but some better tuning for usability and system balance would be wonderful.

In The Last Federation, you play as one of two heads of the last living Hydra who's stolen a mercenary flagship and has taken on the task of balancing power between a number of alien species to keep them from annihilating each other.

You do this through diplomacy menus and ??? turn-based shmup combat.
