Can't rush/press for production in the microlab, either- you can't rush the perfection that is bacterial colony's growth rate.

I mean, I love the weird shit I see on the processing line, but my passion is in cultures, slides and stains, mixing agar and prepping plates.

I applied in-house to be transferred from specimen processing to the microbio lab.

Cross your fingers that I get approved, I could deal with less stress from not being pressed for production, and could definitely benefit from a raise and getting to play with petri dishes and microscopes all night.

Spoiler alert: im the one with the cracked rib.

America: where you can have three employees in one break room and each of them can be dealing with everything from chronic allergies, a cracked rib, and fucking pneumonia, but they can't call out because it isn't paid, and isn't worth it.

Also, if I see one more requisition day the source of a urine sample is vaginal, I will scream.

..... This client sent a urine culture in a sodium potassium tube. Do none of the staff in TX get proper phlebotomy or lab training??

When I was training as a medical assistant, I got basic phlebotomy courses. At least enough to know urine doesn't go in a glucose tube!

It's hard to aliquot plasma when you're sweating under your PPE.
