@ctrlaltdog@chitter.xyz this only started recently happening after a driver update though. before that if my PC was up long enough there was a good chance it would just greenscreen and restart everything after a while

for me it used to be C but a) my GPU sometimes has problems waking and it just shits the bed and I have to restart the PC and b) just last night when i hibernated this thing it just sat there and did nothing. wouldn't even let me go back to the desktop.

so uh yeah i think i'll just leave it on for rn

that being said, has someone ACTUALLY remade Quake or like. done a spiritual successor to to it in the GoldSrc engine? THAT i would like to know.

i haven't even played it, only seen footage of it streamed from a friend on the Nifflas discord server, but I already feel like. just.

i dunno. it's weird. it feels like something that doesn't exist, and yet, here it is

-- that ends up basically being the symbol for the final boss in the third game (which, might i add, has almost NO buildup at all), and said boss literally shouts cultural references at you while trying to shock you with 40,000 volts of electricity.

and yet it's actually pretty well-put together.

like. the name's a misnomer. it barely has any relation to quake at all. it's a challenge mod in the vein of those Nintendo Hard games that had two sequels, one of them even had a webcomic that vaguely makes sense and has a weird sense of humor, and all of them have this weird >) symbol lined up everywhere --

okay so i've looked into it and i have concluded:

halfquake is a weird mod series but it deserves to be preserved
