The obvious answer is "it's a store that has values for keys" but I'm not clear on transactional safety and concurrency issues you would be considering when using an RDBMS.

How do you use a key-value store as a database? I'm looking for examples. I'm curious why the industry is moving towards stuff like redis and tikv.
