Question for ace-spectrum people 

How do you know you're ace and/or aro? This is something I struggle with because I have literally never dated anyone (I've had varying degrees of interest in my life) I'm 28. I've been told it's unusual I haven't dated anyone by now.

I also worry that because of trauma I have that it's less I'm ace and more I don't want anyone to get close to me as a defense mechanism.

I know you can't come to a consensus and tell me what I am, but how does one know?
