Why do they have to do this? Well, the archive format requires you to decompress every file in the archive to get only one of them...
#PSO2 has something like 90,000 files in its data directory, and roughly a third of them are just the large item and enemy icons used in the UI.

I wrote a tool in rust that unpacks every file in PSO2 and converts all the textures to .png and it is so insanely fast I'm kind of scared of it

It's frankly unacceptable that 343i launched Halo: MCC on PC without an option to disable in-game text chat entirely, let alone an in-game report function to report racists in said text chat.
Game studios be like "hey guys, we got skins now! report function? what's that?"

I found out today that only 16% of Americans can read at a high school level or above.
36% of them read at most at a 6th to 8th grade level. 34% of them read at a 4th to 5th grade level.
I am almost certain America's educational system is to blame here. The way we teach middle and high school is severely broken. The system has failed us.

It's wild to me how white developers can have like, 6 different gigs in the span of 7 years. That's extraordinary.
But then again, maybe it isnt.
It's easy for white devs to go from gig to gig b/c white-run companies will take a chance on them whether they suck or not.
Meanwhile I've met black people in tech who've been clutching the same gig for YEARS, b/c being out of work means searching for another job for-fucking-ever.
I'm honestly surprised that Rust's async stuff is as ergonomic to use, if not more ergonomic, than Kotlin's coroutines. The lack of intrinsically scoped tasks leaves a little to be desired, but Rust compiles everything down to something so much smaller and more concise, and the compile times so far haven't been offensive at all.
