Earlier today a comrade in Portland had their home raided by the Portland Police in relation to one of the recent demonstrations. The Portland Police detained this activist on charges including rioting, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. The police seized many items of clothing, some goggles, and walkie talkies. In these situations, remember to get all paperwork from the officers and look it over to ensure they are only taking what is listed on the warrant. Take pictures of any damage. Do not talk to the police. Once the police have left, or you are released, immediately contact the National Lawyer's Guild, your comrades, and the GDC (that's us!) to get the word out. It’s important to communicate about what is going on, and be upfront with your comrades and community about what happened while interacting with the police, and anything you learned in that process. We are stronger and safer when we openly share information and support each other through these experiences.

An industry that forces crunch-time slavery, is rather unstable to work for, and which for decades has been misogynist and objectified women as trophies and rewards has turned out to be a breeding ground for problematic entitled bro culture.

I really would love this to not be the case, but more and more individuals keep coming out as being toxic manipulators and abusers.

It's hard to make evidence based judgment calls to mute/block/unfollow people when you're operating on hearsay, receipts are hard/impossible to track down due to (intentionally) useless search, the culture opposes screenshots and you're not active in any sub-communities or group chats. While it's sort of the job of mods to be aware of these things, let's be patient with the rest of people when they're not up to date with the latest goings on.

@I_am_journei The people starting the fires wouldn't be stopped by red meat being less popular; they'd continue with their intended investment and simply drive the social consciousness towards appreciating red meat above all other foods.
