tired: your anxiety about political contexts is a personal problem. nobody feels like this but you. stop worrying about it.
wired: we spend so much time arguing with people who refuse to examine their political context, whose ability to refuse is itself a kind of political power, that it’s hardly any wonder we haven’t the energy left over to advance the good things between us, to fight the good fight for that humane future-present that we all know in our hearts.
a note on keeping up with abuse or harassment allegations on here
It's hard to make evidence based judgment calls to mute/block/unfollow people when you're operating on hearsay, receipts are hard/impossible to track down due to (intentionally) useless search, the culture opposes screenshots and you're not active in any sub-communities or group chats. While it's sort of the job of mods to be aware of these things, let's be patient with the rest of people when they're not up to date with the latest goings on.
@I_am_journei The people starting the fires wouldn't be stopped by red meat being less popular; they'd continue with their intended investment and simply drive the social consciousness towards appreciating red meat above all other foods.
Y'know, like how they already did.
good morning, viable solutions to the current political situation must recognize that no single problem exists in a vacuum and your approach to any given problem must examine all the angles of oppression that affect that problem in the first place, especially in relation to how vectors of oppression affect PoC and indigenous people
Tech babbling
I'm starting to migrate from Devuan to Artix Linux, since there is a possibility that Debian might cut off support for SysVinit completely. Not right now, but..I'm not a fan of taking chances.
Plus you have a choice of two init systems, OpenRC and Runit.
I know, I know, Gentoo has that and..systemd, but I would like to avoid that as much as I can. >.>
Bigotry isn't ok just because it's directed at a horrible person. Be careful about who you're hurting in the process
We trust you have received the usual lecture from your local System Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things:
#1) Women, especially women of color and trans women, built the foundations of most of your digital life.
#2) Before you try to help someone with a problem, make sure they actually asked for your assistance.
#3) Others' needs are more important than your convenience.
