@ShugoWah in seriousness, I’m a game player, developer, and Linux fan and am pessimistic about the compatibility layer approach of wine/proton for typical end users. Compiling to native code is still the best way to make something that performs well and isn’t a pain for the user to set up. 1/2

(Though I will say that the "Linux user who wants to play games" has a better time than the "Gamer who wants to use Linux", and that's certainly improved over the past decade)
@ShugoWah That happens basically if 1) the developers themselves prefer working in Linux, or 2) multiplatform support is considered “good hygiene” for the game/engine’s code, e.g. if other non-windows versions are planned. There is generally no short term commercial gain from selling games for Linux. 2/2
