@Siphonay@octodon.social I liked to imagine it was a post-scarcity world, like Star Trek, where nobody had to actually work for anything, but people did anyway, for the fun of it! I've had a dream, when I retire, of making pancakes for the whole neighborhood and everybody gets together for it. So, pancakes / food service for fun was my special talent.

@Siphonay@octodon.social You'd think it would be post-scarcity, with 1/3 of the population being able to use magic, even if only a fraction of them can pop things into mid-air out of nothing.
But it's still a plot point when Applejack can't join her friends because she's busy trying to earn enough money to get by.
