part of the fun of a decentralized, federated social network like this is that different instances have different rules. if you want people to cw things, encourage your instance or other instances to include that in the rules, and enforce them.

but not everyone plays by your rules. you can block or mute those who don't, if you want.

just my two cents.

@Xkeeper i completely agree when it comes to private posts, but this doesn't work when posts are federating and showing up on other users' timelines without their consent

not CWing a federated post is just offloading the work that it would have taken you to write the CW onto literally everybody that has to view it and then decide whether to block you, and can be immensely triggering besides

there isn't a good argument for not CWing stuff that justifies that cost imo

@kibi You could also just... not follow the federated timeline, though?

@Xkeeper @kibi I guess... that generally works, but you still have problems with boosted toots that will federate and can show on your home timeline (and maybe local, too?).

@Raspberryfloof @Xkeeper it's a little silly IMO to say that people with PTSD aren't allowed to use the federated timeline, or that that's a feature which is only safe for certain groups. all features should be accessible to everyone imo.

also yes, boosted toots
