Yeah so I can't emphasize this enough but if you don't like a friend changing fursona species, or even just experimenting with different species, then this is very much a you problem. I get it, you're used to seeing your friends looking one way or another but c'mon a fursona is a personal choice and I'd hope support for your friends goes deeper than liking their fursona or not.
It's genuinely frustrating when I get comments implying I picked a bear alt because they're trendy or whatever. Negative comments aren't gonna make me change my characters but it will change who I see as genuine and supportive.

@ZiaMacPine It's not you, so no worries. It's a handful of friends who have either been passive aggressive or kinda mean about it? I'm not sure they realize that their comments kinda hurt so I'm just trying to make a general "this is how I feel when blah" post. Hoping the people who need to see it do wind up reading.
