Why does the algorithm show me Ben Shaprio, the Epoch Times, and Prager U? There is no logical reaaon beyond some company paid to have it inserted in my feed

@ZiaMacPine I say this because the same happened to me and I started anonymizing our browsing here and filtering out data collection from the house.

@artfulreggie No, I do understand that part. Though I lack an Echo et al. I guess what I am saying is I wish the algorithm was smarter or more effective on keying to my interests.

Just a bunch of if X --> PROBABLY Y based on history.
Honestly, anonymizing is the best thing everyone should be doing ^^;

@artfulreggie I am pretty anonymous. I use ad blockers and such. Still yeah it is dumb and part of me wishes I could give it feedback and say "just send me this stuff:

@ZiaMacPine if you're talking about Birdsite, Elongated Muskrat started weighing conservatives more heavily so you'd see them more.

Google Ads & Amazon are in league, so if you have an Echo it'll listen in on things you say and recommend things based on keywords it identifies.
Similarly, if you're online without ad blockers and anonymizers, they'll try and find topics/sites you browse.
And based on those items, they will suggest things you are likely to engage with based on how others engage with related topics.
Sadly: reading news => elderly habits => conservative :P
