While the Nazis did take some cues from the US, and Hitler did admire how the US oppressed Black and indigenous people, saying "Nazis learned everything they did from the US" is wildly ahistorical and erases centuries of genocide against Jews in Europe before the Holocaust.
It seems like a lot of US American leftists have this need for the US to be the Ultimate Evil under all circumstances, and it leads to some pretty wild and ahistorical takes. Not everything is about us.
@BathysphereHat Gaaaah! right? its like I'm not trying to defend the USA here but maybe we need to admit humanity can get up to some generally awful things no matter the society or place and time and maybe we need to confront THAT lest we keep making the same mistakes over and over again.
The USA has done some awful things but its not the only bad actor out there (and trying to rank the "evil" of nations is an inherently flawed premise too)
