@kara multitude: renting it out brings much more troubles too, but a stable income. you would need to be responsible for repairs and collecting rent and screening people. then there is the issue of do we cast them out if they do not make rent? we think selling it would be more easy for you.

our parents rented to our cousins our grandmas house. the cousins skipped rent a few times, and it was complicated.

@Kyna @kara@occult.camp if you're thinking of renting it, since you live a long way away from the property, getting a good, ethical rental management company is a must. the management company will take a cut of the rent, but they'll be versed in local property laws, able to interact with renters, and already have relationships with local repair/upkeep businesses.
