I know complaining about noise in space in a Star Wars movie is ridiculous at this point, but seriously, are those Star Destroyers jumping out of hyperspace /into atmosphere/? How are they making booms audible from the surface? (There's no "sound inside the ship" excuse this time - people on the ground are reacting to the sound.)

TLJ

How old is Hux supposed to be? He looks about 20 years older than I remember him from TFA.

TLJ

Okay, "General Hugs" was funny.

TLJ

The starfighter choreographers have stopped pretending that X-wings are operating in atmosphere, I see. That bootlegger turn was nice.

TLJ

I dunno who Paige is but she got a death like we were supposed to know her.

TLJ

(Was she in Rogue One? I still haven't seen that.)

TLJ

"'Finn naked leaking bag'? Did you fry a chip?"

TLJ

You can tell something's wrong with Luke as soon as you see him because he's not bothering to cover his hand anymore.

TLJ

Ah, porgs, the little beasties they created because it was easier than photoshopping puffins out.

TLJ

See, okay, Snoke makes me miss Palpatine. Snoke makes the mistake that all the terrible evil lords make - self-aggrandizement. He beats up on Kylo Ren and fosters resentment. Palpatine was Anakin/Vader's friend right up until he thought he could do better with Luke.

TLJ

Luke is doing a good job of being a Weirdo Hermit. He DID learn from Yoda!

TLJ

"Where are you from?"
"Nowhere."
"No one's from nowhere."
"Jakku."
"Okay, that is pretty much nowhere."

TLJ

It is possible - I'm not sure - that this scene with Leia in her quarters is the first time we see hyperspace from the /side/.

TLJ

god damn it, I miss Carrie Fisher so much.

TLJ

I forgot I was commenting on this.

If Leia's going to get to use the Force once in the series, I'm glad she made it a good one. She knew it was coming, she prepared herself, and she navigated herself back to where she needed to be.

TLJ

I can't believe R2D2's been holding onto that message from Leia for 20 years.

TLJ

I see /exactly/ why the MRAs don't like Holdo.

TLJ

Also, I feel like "only 400 people across 3 vessels" is trying to invoke Battlestar Galactica, but regardless: this just feels unreasonably lopsided. Like, the First Order was supposed to be a splinter group of the Empire that never acknowledged its defeat, and they fired /one shot/ and took out the Senate, and suddenly the Empire's back in charge again and the Republic doesn't exist anymore? This seems really bizarre.

@noelle Spouse and I were talking about that last night, actually. it's possible to come up with a scenario that makes the setup possible, but how it happened is never *mentioned*. it's like the worldbuilding is missing a couple of supporting pillars, and while you can imagine where they should be and how they'd fit... there's no sign that they actually canonically *exist*, and it's weird.
