I realized last night why I have never been able to come up with a "soul name": because the thing that sums up my spirit isn't a sound, it's a color. two colors, specifically fog grey and... that particular shade of green, between evergreen and emerald.
when I started calling myself "Green," it was mostly out of frustration--trying to come up with a handle that seemed to represent The Real Me. now, I understand that I was just being as accurate as possible.
there is a part of my soul that will always live in the redwood forests and flood plains of Humboldt County. ocean, fog, cathedrals of trees, and riotous green... when I think of peace, of grace, these are the places I picture.
@green Mmmm. Same here, honestly. I spent as much time as possible among the redwoods when I was living in the SF Bay Area. I think it's a lot of why I loved riding motorcycles there so much; it was an excuse to climb mountains and stand among giants.
@mawr yeah... Humboldt is a terrible place to live, at least it has been for a while, maybe it's different at this moment but when I was there, employment was ridiculously bad, they had a bad meth problem, crime was on the rise... people aside, Humboldt is SO. BEAUTIFUL. the evergreens up here are nice, but they don't have the same... flavor/energy/majesty, y'know?
