i'm kind of curious about the future of pc gaming, because it does appear that monster hunter world uses a job dispatch system for the bulk of its per-frame work, which is a pretty massive change to MT Framework. but this also means that by design it will try to fully saturate the CPU unless intentionally limited.

so, a lot more games coming will be using 100% CPU, and a lot of people are gonna call that "poorly optimized" when it's really just being far more efficient than it's ever been.

monster hunter world pc's use of SwitchToThread seems like it might have been done to be analogous to their ps4 and xbox backends, without really understanding the implications, since both of those consoles' kernels have different thread scheduling behavior compared to desktop OSes. which would explain why SpecialK is so effective just by disabling that alone?

this is conjecture really, but maybe MHW is actually really well optimized and we just can't see it without tweaks, because they fumbled some of the port work.
