I wonder if I even belong in a programming job...

I never really cared about programming for its own sake, or for any of the weird things you can do just for the sake of doing them. I just want to build interesting things, like fun games or useful applications...

I've seen so many programmers or CS graduates talking about weird things you can do that they seem so excited about, or particularly interesting obfuscated and esoteric code that they wrote, but I just see them like curiosities that probably won't be useful outside of some niche. Why write a strange obfuscated algorithm for something when you could have written it cleanly and neatly, but still have it work exactly like your obtuse code...?

@Raspberryfloof I sorta tried it and it's a bit up and down, for my sake I came with the weird not-really-necessary knowledge and what I was met with was people claiming that what I was talking about was impossible, even though I've done it multiple times as well as having it implemented and working.

@Raspberryfloof It's a frustrating world regardless, but it really depends on the job. I ended up working with the most mindnumbing programming and that's not good either, however if you have the skills to make personal projects like games, go for it, use it. Even if it takes a while or has to be on your own time, because it'll keep your heart in it while your job might not.
