@tahajin What can I say? I like animal orbs and I'm just doing my part in the struggle. :3
@tahajin Does this mean that fat furries are subverting the body types associated with pre-industrial nobility and work to erase the class divide?
@ShugoWah Windows would need to jump three sharks at once for this to change
(Though I will say that the "Linux user who wants to play games" has a better time than the "Gamer who wants to use Linux", and that's certainly improved over the past decade)
@ShugoWah That happens basically if 1) the developers themselves prefer working in Linux, or 2) multiplatform support is considered “good hygiene” for the game/engine’s code, e.g. if other non-windows versions are planned. There is generally no short term commercial gain from selling games for Linux. 2/2
@ShugoWah in seriousness, I’m a game player, developer, and Linux fan and am pessimistic about the compatibility layer approach of wine/proton for typical end users. Compiling to native code is still the best way to make something that performs well and isn’t a pain for the user to set up. 1/2
@ShugoWah Why play Warframe when you could play SUPER TUX RACER
This was specifically egged on by this screenshot of the Daggerfall manual from bird site, describing some suggestions for when you’re allowed to save/load.
@ShugoWah Linux is fast and powerful and somewhat less creepy than Windows, but beware that it does fuck around with you as much as you fuck around with it
I only snapped out of it after playing a couple games that seemed perfect for me "on paper" that disappointed in ways I couldn't put a finger on
Now it's more like... I want to see what games try to do and judge them on their own terms
cyberpunk 2077 hot take
@Thaminga FINALLY, a video game where I get to shoot people in the face /s
classic Doom "Compendium" megamod
Pretty cool:

A mod that collects 50+ notable "mega WADs" (over 1000 levels!) from the first 10 years of Doom's history into a single file. As an approach to curation, this is like a nicely put together box set of the first ~40 years of cinema.
