TIL that the myth of how “Final Fantasy” got its name was debunked in 2015 and actually the name of the series is pretty much just arbitrary aesthetics https://kotaku.com/debunking-the-final-fantasy-naming-myth-1707389344/amp

I do think overall that Tony Stark Iron Man and Steve Rogers Captain America have had a good run and I’m happy we will never see them again. As a movie serial goes it’s certainly a better conclusion than the hobbit, hunger games, aaaaaaand possibly Harry Potter.
As a hero movie on its own merits, it’s still no Into The Spiderverse.
(I think Rocket was underutilized but OF COURSE I think that.)

There was a lot of cheese for comic nerds that I know about mostly because of news headlines. I did kinda roll my eyes at the extremely marketable shot of every female superhero standing in one lineup—not because it represents anything sinister but it’s definitely gonna end up in a Disney recruitment PowerPoint in two years.
There was one pretty sketchy looking moment where Scarlet Witch floats into the scene. I think this might be a fake movie.

Fat Thor needed more sympathy by the script. I appreciate that Thanos went full campy and stopped pretending he was some force of benevolent balance. But I also kinda like that they showed scenes of this quieter Earth and said “yeah this is awful but we can move forward and find purpose again.” Felt weighty in a culture where violent disaster seems possible any day.

Recording my reaction here before I start reading other takes.
I think I mostly liked it! The first, like, 20 minutes of the movie were so refreshing—say “let’s just kill the bad guy” and they do. I appreciate that the time travel stuff used straightforward rules (that are MOSTLY consistent) but admit that those scenes in the past felt low stakes. The Big Dumb Battle was pretty gratifying since we’ve spent 50 hours explaining who all these people are.
@DokoroNuki I had some noodles myself. A big bowl of ramen and an afternoon walk. :3
@DokoroNuki You should have sent food! :P It was a good kind of nervousness anyway
Komma is kind of a contradiction because he's too big to be stealthy in that chameleon sense and too much a dork to be a physically fit fighter. So...
Personally, I think my sona and my general temperament is suited to a class like Shield Sage. A wand in one hand and a tower shield in the other, focused on channeling magic to distract baddies, storing energy by blocking attacks, and retaliating with elemental blasts and weapon enchantments.
