Before Isekai the big tropey YA genre was "chosen one" stories. With those the wish fulfillment was "You are the most important in a sea of boring people" and NOW its "You are now in a world and society that you are not only capable of supporting yourself in but thriving in. There is more danger but you have direct agency in solving these problems."
And tbh I think with the right self-awareness you could make an isekai that promotes radicalization instead of passifying via distracting escapsim.
Being a prototype machinist is actually kinda grueling work.
Machine operators get the Fully Automated Space Communism. I get the Weird Shit.
And the machines are older than I am, and they're just Cyborg 1950s machine designs. So mostly Manual.
So I'm getting all Soff looking, but also beefing up a bunch.
