It's weird living in a hippie tribe and taking transition super slow, because we don't have a Name for what I am right now, but it's Recognized and celebrated.

I'd wondered why I still felt constrained. XD My whole extended family seems like they're in total support, but it's because I'm doing this the hippie pirate way.

The Helmet is Easy. Full Face Motorcycle helmets that are out of Spec or been thru a crash and suffered some damage are cheap on CL, and can be decked out and up-armored the same as all the plate.

A smartphone running VR software hooked up to an external camera can solve a Lot of the problems with traditional helmets. And you can look like a Gundam.

On top of that, Voice amplification and modulation software can be used from a throat mic, and allow for effective communication with the outside world. Voice commands to the smartphone can activate parts of the armor.

We have all the tech, off the shelf now. It's kinda amazing.

Now, for the industrial lego part: Pneumatic cylinders, valves, fittings, and pressure regulators are more or less all interchangeable, as long as you get your fittings and adapters right.

Co2 cylinders are basically the key to all things steampunk. Steam pressures at atmospheric temperatures. So you'll be hissing and making noise like crazy with one of these suits. But of course, you can route that escaping gas from the valves to muffled, padded places in the Suit, cooling you as you go.

Of course, we're gonna be Furry here, so this sucker is getting Digi Legs. Prestressed springs forming the Feet made like Recurve bow limbs, actuated with pneumatic cylinders. So, we've got powered springs for stilts.

With 800PSI on tap from the co2 cylinder, a lot of other actuation potential is unlocked. Most of these stainless cylinders can be pressurized to 400PSI, which means a 1" bore ram can exert 300 pounds of force.

That's a lotta force on an exoskeleton though, so proportioning and flow valves are Crucial.

Tony was a Car Nut before being Iron Man. Car tech will teach you about Composites, structures, sheet metal forming and all the stuff that comes with it.

We can hijack this for our purposes. For Costume armor, you can carve a styrofoam block in the shape you want, cast rigid Polyurethane foam in the shape you like, or use multiple pieces glued together to form a mock up of the armor you want.

Then cover it with Linen Cloth and epoxy Resin, then fiber reinforced Bondo. Lightweight, classy, easy, and durable.

Want something for Martial Arts combat? Polyurethane foam for Everything. Substitute Fiberglass for linen, and triple up the layers. Thermoform a 3/8" thick piece of ABS or HDPE plastic on top of that and weld the seams with a rotory tool. Rivet 1/8" thick hardened steel on top of That, and you have a Breastplate that can take swing after swing from a Pickaxe.

Want something Lighter? Wood Veneers can be used to build up Elven armor like this. Epoxy is a wonder material.

The critical aspect here is using each material in it's Strong role, backed up by a heterogenous material with a Strength covering for the other material's weakness. In this case, a stressed skin structure, with a hollow core made of high density foam.

Once we have our structural armor and exoskeleton as a Unit-body, we need a way to Boost it's movements.
