Dysphoria, Pregnancy, Parenting
Could we please separate the dysphoria of “wanting to be a parent” vs “wanting to experience pregnancy and birth.”
One of these things is totally possible for trans women, and one of them is currently not (I hold out hope of a distant future).
And like I find the conflation of the two really disconcerting, and a lot of this has to do with the fact that I AM a mom. I have a kid, and I am one of two moms to that kid. It is totally possible for trans women to be moms, and that can happen in a variety of ways but when people, including trans women, act like it doesn’t count it is SUPER invalidating.
I dunno, this is partially my baggage but I would really appreciate it if we could be more mindful.
Coming out to my mom today that I'd started HRT was the complete inverse of most of my trans friends experiences.
She'd noticed I'd looked different in a good way but didn't know what it was, and lauded me for my decision because external ideas of gender "are just Boxes we put ourselves in, and you've never been comfortable living in a box"
Came out to her about Yaori, too, which was even easier.

actual queer people: *envy scottpilgrim voice* short answer? being queer just makes you better than most people
I have boy skirts and girl skirts.
this has very little to do with the Skirt, more to do with 'Hmmm, this one's Canvas and smells perpetually of automotive chemicals' and 'This one's light and frilly and smells like Berries because I spilled vape juice flavor on it' and which one of those suits the day's aesthetic.
This was expounded by the fact my youngest brother, the Bishounen pirate hippie prince (And Dutch Angel Dragon, except he doesn't know it) kept re-assuring the ladies I was the automotive expert.
They saw pretty quickly I was the real deal. XD
This, as a Fae, is an Astounding power boost. Because now Four old ladies of color are gonna have a Story To Tell. Mind you, they broke down in Redneckland.
So, okay, today I had a bunch of shit to do but got a Pop Quiz last thing.
Four old ladies of color in a hyundai with a flat tire.
Fuck it, I am Iron man.
The old black lady with the cane could not get over lauging at the "Guy in the dress" leaping in and changing their tire in record time. She demanded her girlfriends (The Bronzen Girls) to get pictures.
I wasn't just the hero they needed, I was the hero they hadn't expected they'd ever see.
Gardening and DIY are important not just because it gives people more independence and saves them money, but because it de-alienates them from their labor. There are few types of propaganda more potent than excitedly checking your peppers several times a day and thinking to yourself, "what if all work was this fulfilling"
