a note on an abuse pattern (second person)
victim: *does anything that makes the abuser feel bad, like characterize their mistreatment accurately*
abuser: *does what they can to immediately make the victim feel bad so the victim stops*
...I'm not going to say this never happens outside abuse relationships, because I'm sure it's a toxic coping mechanism a lot of folks have acquired from one place or another ... but I /will/ say that if you're wondering if someone is willing to treat you with respect, consideration, and regard? Seeing them act this way is a pretty big sign that they aren't.

Douglas Adams wrote about this conundrum. The Total Perspective Vortex is a machine, which, when used, you are given just one momentary glimpse of the entire unimaginable infinity of creation, and somewhere in it a tiny little marker, a microscopic dot on a microscopic dot, which says "You are here"
The shock alone instantly annihilates your brain. It's "the most savage psychic torture a sentient being can undergo". The Total Perspective Vortex proved one thing, "it proved conclusively that if life is going to exist in a Universe of this size, then the one thing it cannot have is a sense of proportion."
@Sapphicgiraffic I'm not familiar with the reference, "brothers war" makes me think of something else
"You look sad," the dragon said.
The old knight smiled wanly. "Not sad, exactly. Wistful. I'm nearing the end of my life."
"Any regrets?"
"Some."
"That you won't be remembered as a dragonslayer?"
"No! No, that's a young man's foolish ambition."
"You will be remembered, my love."

Boomers: Get an entry level job, work your way up, get raises, get promoted, then retire.
Also Boomers:
- make the requirements for all entry level jobs only obtainable with experience entry-level employees dont have
- make pay and raise increments functionally nothing
- hire outside the company when new positions open
- retirement is basically a joke at this point folks
Also Also Boomers: Why do you hate capitalism so much???

Tiny motorcycles, magic potions, machine tools, progressive rock, trance states, and hand sharpened drill bits. Oh, and I read Tarot. Probably 18+ just to be sure.
