Iirc Cyanogenmod is one of if not the most popular third party firmware replacements out there. And I think in order to install firmware, you have to root first. So you might look up your phone model on their website, see if someone's done a handy guide, and use whatever rooting method they recommend there. Still might be/feel sketchy though, ymmv.

@Siphonay@octodon.social You'd think it would be post-scarcity, with 1/3 of the population being able to use magic, even if only a fraction of them can pop things into mid-air out of nothing.
But it's still a plot point when Applejack can't join her friends because she's busy trying to earn enough money to get by.
@Siphonay@octodon.social I liked to imagine it was a post-scarcity world, like Star Trek, where nobody had to actually work for anything, but people did anyway, for the fun of it! I've had a dream, when I retire, of making pancakes for the whole neighborhood and everybody gets together for it. So, pancakes / food service for fun was my special talent.
@Siphonay@octodon.social I had a pony OC too! But never really got into the fandom because it was too heavily influenced by toxic people. I stopped watching the show around season 4, when I realized it had strayed far from the better writing of S1.
I'll cop to playing the manchild myself, but I try to be mature when it counts.
