Hey, some folks have figured out how to spin text in toots. That's fine, but if the portion you're spinning leaves the display region then it starts taking on a strobe effect and might be an epilepsy trigger.

Therefore, please hide your spinning text behind content warnings.

Trans people are now officially protected by federal law in Canada. (Or will be once it gets royal assent, but that's just a formality.)

Congratulations to all the new users who got ✅ so fast!
If you haven't yet, hang in there, you might need to wait for your first pineapple delivery.

Was there a sort of Mastodon instance-finder that was a more directed experience than instances.mastodon.xyz/ ?

New users: be sure to put your preferred pronouns in your profile, with optional backups. Don't assume people can tell based on your name or userpic. Take advantage of this by looking up what others have in their own profiles, so you know how to best address your new friends!

is there a "I united with other workers of the world and all I lost were my chains" tshirt and if not why

Job stuff

Like, they were all about service industry should be background as much as possible, they don't want us to be seen and expressed disdain for visible job-related equipment, which came off to me as too shamey for my tastes. Presentation was also big, and I'm kind of a slob, so that wouldn't work out either. Like I said, little things, but lots of them.

Job stuff

So I was meeting with new job people Tuesday morning for paperwork and introductions, along with 30+ people they were also onboarding. One major thing I didn't like was they said no headphones. I really on podcasts and audiobooks to keep me sane on a boring job. There were other little things, but lots of them, that made me appreciate my current job. So I'm probably sticking with this one for now, 20% pay raise be damned, mental health is important.

On punching nazis

My brain gets weird sometimes

Me: How can I punch all the nazis? I only have two fists

Whisper in back of my head: recycling, re-use those fists

Mind equals blown dot gif
(Except I'm me so I pronounce gif with a soft g)

Try not to laugh at the clothes that they wear
Didn't mother teach you that it's not polite to stare?
Don't make a scene when you see them arm in arm
It's best to just act casual, as if you're not alarmed
[...]
Just try, try, try to open up your heart
This world is big enough for some of us to play a different part
It's not fair to persecute them for a simple twist of fate
Some of my best friends are straight
