Me: [repeats common accessibility complaint about how ASCII and emoji art posts mess up on screen readers and maybe aren't worth using given that]
People who don't use screen readers: but ascii memes are a very important part of culture

re: Birdsite, ableism

@AzureHusky I suddenly have the urge to make it so you can add aria-describedby screenreader hints to add "alt-text" to ascii art. I think that'd work? Regardless, it's totally possible.

re: Birdsite, ableism

@Nurbs i think it only works if it also causes the screen reader to skip reading all of the punctuation in the post or something. The issue isn't so much "post is incomprehensible" as "post is the equivalent of an unskippable cutscene of a computer reading 'dash. Dash. Dash. Forward slash. Forward slash. Blue heart emoji. Tilde" for a minute or more"

@AzureHusky I think if there's a describedby, it skips the contents, and reads the description instead. I'll read into the terrifying W3C tomes later. It'd be super cool to have accessible ascii art. \o/

@Nurbs that would be awesome!
