Going back and looking at this from a different angle of relearning fundamental concepts and not just saying "gimme desktop" is instantly demistifying this

@sugar I later learned that most big things (mostly linux steam games) install in big localized packages, so I can just make steam libraries on a bigger slower drive just like I do now

@SwooshyCueb aaah neat, but then like most read/write would be happening on my slow drive, not just the programs I decide aren't speed-critical, right?

I completely skipped learning like fundamental concepts of how linux works, wow

But also.... less friendly to the concept of buying a tiny SSD for your OS and a big drive for everything else

bigfoot is real and he's probably one of the few good people in my neighborhood's HOA because instead of complaining he just sorta offers to help with any violations. i still think violating the "hoa rules" is silly but like it's not that bad with bigfoot helping. i think this his way of secretly protesting them anyway but i don't wanna ask bc that'd be rude i guess.

@shaderphantom Ah yeah I was surprised with how easily and effectively my tablet worked in Mint, I'm just not super keen on adding "learn a completely new illustration program" to the already steep learning curve of switching, haha

@oct2pus@sleeping.town oh! yeah, okay I've been using cmds forever, I understand
