I always get a little twitchy when people improperly appropriate Wendigo symbolism and legends.

Y'all know the Wendigo in the actual Ojibwe/Algonquin spiritual legend was NOT a deer skull headed monster, right?

That's a cultural icon thing from the original Wendigo movie and it became a THING especially after Hannibal but calling those "Wendigo" is kind of insulting to the original legend and spiritual lesson.

There are other names to give your skull headed/antlered creatures.

Hell, Silviu is such a critter, but he's a Butyanesko, a Rromani guardian spirit who has become a Bengesko Wêrshgláta- a Damned Spirit Child of the Forest. He is bound to ME, who is diddikai and not full blooded Rromani, so he is not a full Butyanesko, but something else.

Hell, I could easily say he's a messenger for the Wild Hunt, or that he's a Sin Eater, if I took from my Icelandic or Appalachian heritage.

It's easy to find things in your own culture and background to make something your own instead of taking from someone else and twisting it beyond the importance of the original entity.
