And I was making a joke without knowing the context, apologies.

Yeah, I've definitely seen this with queer folx. It actually reminds me a lot of this article I linked to about a week ago about geek friendship faux pas. One of them was the "inability" of geeks, having been bullied as kids, to exclude anybody from hangouts... leading to situations with "that one guy" everyone secretly dislikes being invited to parties. Queer friend groups work similarly, for similar reasons.

@Efi

Well, we think you're a good person and we enjoy having you around. You contribute to our lives positively. You can dismiss that if you want, but I like you.

CW: food

Finished with chores, so now it's time for ramen. Mmmmmmmmmmm.

@Efi

Perhaps to you. But I can see at least four different people here who disagree with you.

@Efi

Stop. Take a minute and relax, you know that isn't true.

@Noelle808@witches.town

... What?

I mean, maybe in the very literal sense. :P

@LottieVixen@dev.glitch.social @lizardsquid

I've been thinking about watching that, lemme know what you think?

Roommate Vent

@LottieVixen@dev.glitch.social

Yeh. :/ She's a good person, she's just a lot.

Anyway, it helps to have somewhere to vent (here!) where I can feel comfortable complaining about the things that I really don't think are important enough to confront her about directly. So I'm glad for that.

Roommate Vent

More roommate venting:

- She invites herself along to everything I do ("Oh you're hanging out with Alicia? Mind if I come along?", "What are you watching? Oh, that's a cool show. We should watch it together sometime.")

Anyway, none of these are awful or unforgivable things, they're just annoying. *Especially* because they're things I've noticed myself doing, either currently or in the past. That makes it somehow worse. :P

Roommate Vent

Ya ever live with someone who's just like the worst parts of yourself? Or acts like you acted 2-5 years ago?

My roommate:
- Apologizes constantly
- Inserts herself into every conversation
- Procrastinates on things like chores, then has a panic attack trying to do everything at the last minute
- Performative flogging
- Uses overly formal language constantly (this isn't a bad thing, it just gets annoying)

CONT

@catoutofbed@octodon.social

One might imagine. :P

@catoutofbed@octodon.social

Hehehe, thank you.

It was the 90s. Jessica was a very cool name. (Not that my birth name, Danika, wasn't. Jessica was just cooler.)

@catoutofbed@octodon.social

Well.

When I was 6 years old, I spent an afternoon playing with a girl in a park. I told her my name was Jessica (it was not). I felt so sneaky.

Anyway, this memorable afternoon gives me permission to relate to Jess culture, I've decided.

Is being exhausted by any amount of IRL social interaction Queer Culture?

@catoutofbed@octodon.social

Thanks! :3 me too, hehe

@Efi

I've always got some gay to spare. *hands some to you*

@catoutofbed@octodon.social

I hope so, too! I'm out of bed now, so less likely to accidentally fall asleep again. So when my roommate comes back I'll hopefully have some prior notice.

Gonna make myself a cocoa and try to relax. ~

*Glady accepts* thank you~
