Even tho people are all "Call your reps and tell them that they're wrong!" I always feel like that's not very effective. It's easy for them to ignore the phones, they have someone else answering them too. It's never direct communication.
These people live in their own social echo chambers, away from the public. They need their own friends and associates to tell them they're wrong. Those are the people they'll listen to.
That barrier though, it's difficult.
Politics
I really do wish the US wasn't a place where firm protesting wasn't met with police action. Those dynamic revolts and overthrows of corrupt gov'ts of the past is impossible with the state of police protection.
This big protective wall has been under construction for a while and people trained to behave. Politicians live within their safe bubbles because it's easy to ignore what never effects them. There's not gonna be a ring of cars around some senator's house demanding to talk.
