On Abuse (1)

Abuse is so prevalent that many people don't even realize what abuse they're putting up with. If you grow up around abusers and manipulators, you learn how to survive among abusers and manipulators and can take their actions as normal

And it's not like people can't abuse, feel bad for it, and want to change. But serial abusers make a pattern for it.

I really do like teaching people new things!

I am scum!

I belong nowhere in average society. I go where I can be free to be me, no matter what anyone thinks! I will not tolerate unfairness as much as I am able. I am not perfect, but I will keep trying!

I am SCUM!

That said, in general, your admin will only look over the toots you've marked Private if they have reason to believe harassment or illicit dealings are going on. Make sure you trust your admin to act like this, and if you don't, it might be time to look for another instance.

As a general rule, if an application you're using isn't peer-to-peer and relies on an intermediary like a server, the information you're sending isn't secure unless you take extra steps outside the application to secure it.

Admins don't want to read your private toots, but they have to be able to because otherwise private toots allow some users to secretly harass others or to conduct illegal dealings without the admin's knowledge, and under many laws the admin will be responsible for enabling the harassment or illegal behavior even if they didn't know it was happening.

I've updated my brief introduction to Mastodon with a new heading: "How private is "Private"?": gist.github.com/joyeusenoelle/

I've reprinted it here because it should be read.

I cannot stress this enough: Private toots are not encrypted or secure.

The admin of your server can read any toot posted on their server, as well as any toot sent to a user on their server. This is a necessary security precaution.

Rant on the wealthy 2

Rant on the wealthy

TBH I am getting so sick and tired of all the hypocrisy from those with wealth. It's like as soon as people have money over a certain amount, no matter how well-meaning they are, they just get this lack of empathy settling in their brains

They take for granted how easy everything is. Once they can get a car easy, it's hard for them to imagine a life where one cannot afford transportation.

Once they can get a house with no problem, the homeless become invisible immediately.

Woo identity, spiritual, otherkin vs. human spirit

Not to say that wolves can't also be super selective based on sense of pack/family (the same word really). Humans are by no means the only ones that have in-groups and out-groups.

But there's so many greater ways to be.

Hmmm.

Thinking about it, I have not explored my Sola side enough. The one that sees the bigger picture.

I feel weird and awkward voicing all of this out loud. ^^;

Woo identity, spiritual, otherkin vs. human spirit

I love the wolf and sheep aspects of my brain, how they've formed within me, and I absolutely adore wolves and sheep on a spiritual level. But at the same time, they don't override that human side. It's more like I have a human in me that rides on a wolf and hugs on her sheep.

But she wonders if she wants to stay human anymore.

She's so upset at the ape brain that's so divisive by nature....
